Otedola Bridge Explosion – All you need to know
Early this morning, a news reaching to me that there was a tank explosion at Otedola Bride, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
It was a very sad event in Lagos yesterday, as a fully-loaded 33,000-litre fuel tanker exploded on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing more than 50 people and razing about 67 expensive cars and vehicles.
This news was first announced on popular radio station Faaji FM, 106.5 by Mrs Bimbo Ojulari who quoted that a lot of people “changed address go heaven”!
The newscaster shows her grief towards this sad event as its regarded as a black Thursday for Lagos.
An eyewitness, name withheld even told the media that some motorcyclist was not even able to escape this horrific event as they all who were close to the tanker burnt to ashes.
According to Vanguard interview with some individuals who had escaped this narrow death “a commuter, Micheal Simon, whose car was razed, said: “I am happy I didn’t die while trying to escape from the scene. I tried maneuvering my vehicle to avoid being burnt but my efforts proved abortive.”
However, the country P, “President Muhammadu Buhari last night expressed shock and sorrow over the fire incident in Lagos, in which many people were feared killed with several vehicles burnt. The President was sad to learn of the tragic loss of lives, tens of vehicles, property and other valuables in the petrol tanker fire. He expressed his deepest condolences to the government and people of Lagos on this tragedy.
